When are children ready for oats?

You can start giving oats to your child when they turn 6 months old, right when you introduce them to food other than breastmilk. Oats are considered to be great for babies because they are easy to digest because of their rich fibre content.

What’s so great about them?

Oats are considered to be a natural superfood because it packs a balance of a lot of the things our body depends on, such as:

  • Energy

Each serving of oats gives your child energy that they need, not just for staying active and healthy on a daily basis, but also for their healthy growth.

  • Vitamins

Vitamins present in oats is an excellent fuel for the growth and development of your child. Oats contain folate, Vitamins B6, E and K, riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine.

  • Minerals

Oats contain essential minerals such as Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sodium, and Magnesium. These are instrumental in the proper development of your child. A balance of these minerals helps your child build strong bones and teeth, have a healthy level of haemoglobin, and have a more robust neurological system.

  • Antioxidants

Oats also contain antioxidants which prevent rogue cells (free radicals) from damaging other healthy cells in your child’s body.

  • Fibre

The high dietary fibre content in oats makes it an ideal healthy food for kids. While it is extremely rich in nutrients, it is also extremely easy to digest, especially with their still-developing digestive system.
